$750 million investment
On July 16, 2020, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced $750 million in new funding for EV make-ready programs and other EV infrastructure innovation initiatives. The state's goal is to fund over 50,000 level 2 chargers and 1,500 DC fast chargers by 2025. Charge NY's goal is to increase the number of EV chargers in New York State to 10,000 by the end of 2021 alone.
EV make-ready programs in New York State are managed by local utilities. With this expanded funding, utilities will offer 90% of EV charger purchase and install costs for public chargers, 50% for private/restricted chargers, and 100% for disadvantaged communities.
